showtel: The Modern Alternative to Yelp

I developed showtel at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, using user-centered research to blend Instagram-like interactivity with a simplified rating system for travelers. Imagine you're heading to Nashville and unsure of the local hotspots—showtel lets you pre-plan your adventure, making your travels more useful, fun, and interactive.

Step 1

User-centered research focusing on inclusive user personas, thoughtfully designed interviews with open-ended questions, and online research.

Step 2

Initial development of the information architecture based on user-centered research.

Step 3

To bring showtel to life, I created a prototype to test the information architecture and understand how the app can best serve its users. This phase provided valuable feedback, which was crucial for refining the design and enhancing the app’s overall user experience.
